About The Company
Safaricom Ltd is the leading provider of telecommunication services in east and central Africa. Its products and services include: data, voice calls (both fixed and mobile), mobile money transfer through its MPESA platform, short messaging services, mobile phone handsets and devices, financial services, enterprise solutions, and internet services. The firm was incorporated as a private limited liability company in 1997, and subsequently converted into a public limited liability company (State Corporation with 60% of the shareholding held by the Kenyan government) in 2002. In 2008, Safaricom issued 10 billion shares to the public, and was listed at the Nairobi Securities Exchange. It is headquartered along Waiyaki Way, Westlands, Nairobi. |
