NIC Bank Ltd, previously known as the National Industrial Credit Bank, was started in 1959. It is based in Nairobi, Kenya. It specialises in the provision of retail banking, stock brokerage, investment banking, corporate banking, and bancassurance services. Its banking products include deposits (time, call, savings, and current accounts) and loans (secured and unsecured personal loans, salary advances, and property loans, car, home, business, construction and education loans). It also offers transactional banking, foreign exchange, leasing, financial advisory, project financing, as well as internet-based share trading services.


Apart from the Kenyan market, the bank also operates in Uganda and Tanzania. These countries are served by the firm’s six subsidiaries, which include: NIC Bank Kenya, NIC Bank Tanzania, NIC Bank Uganda, NIC Capital Investment Bank, NIC Securities and NIC Insurance Agents.


NIC Bank went public when it listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) in 1971, and its shares have continued to trade at the NSE to date.
