East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL) is the largest producer and marketer of branded alcoholic beverages in East Africa. Its product portfolio encompasses a wide range of spirits, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages, with some of its brands including: Tusker Lager, Tusker Malt Lager, Pilsner, White Cap, White Cap Light, Senator, Guinness, Allsopps, President Lager, Bell Lager, Serengeti Premium Lager, Uhuru Peak Lager, Guinness stout, The Kick Lager, Malta Guinness, Johnnie Walker Whisky, Smirnoff Vodka, Gilbeys Gin, Richot Brandy, Bond 7 Whiskey and Bailey’s Irish Cream. The firm also imports and distributes the following brands: Popov, Smirnoff, Gilbeys, Chelsea, Three Barrels, Richot, Kenya Cane, Kenya Gold, V&A and Bond. Other international corporate brands which the company imports and distributes include: Bailey’s, Johnnie Walker range, Gordon’s, J&B Whisky, Pimms, Capt Morgan, Myers rum and VAT 69. EABL Group owns a number of subsidiaries, through which its various brands are manufactured and marketed. These include Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL), Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL), Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL), United Distillers Vintners (UDV), East African Maltings (EAML) and East African Breweries International (EABLi). KBL has been the largest brewer in Kenya, since it was founded in 1922. UBL, SBL, EABLi and UDV were started in 1946, 1988, 2009and 1962 respectively. EAML supplies brewing raw materials (i.e. malt, barley, and sorghum) to the various brewing units owned and operated by the EABL Group. EABLi exports and supplies the firm’s products to markets in South Sudan,Rwanda, Burundi and Eastern DRC. EABL is headquartered in Ruaraka, Nairobi, Kenya. It was listed on the NSE in 1954. It has also been cross listed on the Uganda Securities Exchange and Dar es Salaam Stock Exchanges. Its largest shareholder is the UK-based Diageo PLC, which holds a 50.03% stake in the group.
